KLR Group will begin by acquiring a deserted NE Baltimore city block, a total of 20 rowhouses with 3-4 bedrooms per unit from the city for a discounted purchase price. Each community of rowhouses will be dedicated to Representative and Dr. Elijah Cummings as Elijah’s House prior to being remodeled to fit the need for low income housing for full-time college students faced with housing and food insecurity. Each unit will house and feed 12 to 16 students per school year, 480 students when fully occupied, 50,000 square feet. Providing jobs, healthcare, community pride, mentorships and most importantly, it will become the model for self-sustaining economic development throughout the community. Our goal is to begin the project in 2021.
