Western District Homicide Arrest

In reference to a homicide that occurred in the Western District, Baltimore City detectives have arrested 38-year-old Derek DeShields Jr. of Baltimore.

DeShields was wanted in connection with the murder of 41-year-old Roderick Coney on June 30, 2026, in the 1300 block of North Stockton Street.

On July 13, 2026, Derek DeSheilds Jr. was arrested in the 600 block of North Washington Street during a traffic stop. Desheilds was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he has been charged with First Degree Murder.

Western District Homicide Investigation

On June 30, 2026, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Western District officers responded to the 1300 block of Stockton Street for a reported shooting investigation.

Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Homicide Detectives at 410-396-2100.
