πΊπΈ Alright Lamar County... by now you've conquered enough BBQ to feed a small army, sampled every side dish Aunt Mae brought to the family potluck, argued over who makes the best potato salad, and you're getting those lawn chairs lined up for fireworks.
Our recommendation? Go enjoy one of the many professional fireworks displays. They're bigger, safer, and you don't have to explain to your insurance company why your mailbox is suddenly in three different ZIP codes.
BUT... we know how y'all are.
You're stubborn. You're gonna light them at home anyway. (We get it... I'm a homebody too.)
So if you're going to celebrate in your own driveway, please don't be like Terry. ππ
A few quick reminders:
π Keep a bucket of water or a charged garden hose nearby.
π Never relight a "dud" firework.
π Keep children and pets a safe distance away.
π Leave the fireworks to sober adults.
π Soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away.
π If something catches fire or someone gets hurt, don't hesitate to call 911.
We'd much rather see your family photos tomorrow than meet you in your front yard tonight.
Have fun, celebrate responsibly, and from all of us at Lamar County Fire Rescue...
πΊπΈ Happy Independence Day! Stay safe, Lamar County.
