We have received several calls regarding the zoning application for Mr. English. At this time, no new application has been submitted, so there will be no meeting on January 8th.

Once an application is received, a meeting date will be scheduled. We will keep everyone informed as updates become available.

Office Closure Notice

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Planning and Zoning Office will close early at 12:30. We will reopen during normal business hours on Monday, January 5.

UPDATE: This application will NOT be heard in January 2026. Once an updated application is received, a new post will be created with the hearing dates and location.

Well...tonight's meeting was a doozy! Sincere apologies to all who took the time to show up, and then show up again in another location. If you made the treck tonight you already know the application for the proposed development on High Falls Park Road has been tabled until January due to technical difficulties. We are already working on finding a larger venue that has the capability to not only seat everyone but to also make presentations that everyone can see and hear. Thank you to everyone that came out and keep checking this page for an update.

UPDATE: This request was approved.

Rezoning Request: Ronald and Gloria Cobb has applied to rezone two acres of their 10 acre tract located at 1307 McCollum Road from AR to R2 for a family split. The planning commission will host the first public hearing on November 6th at 6 pm and the Board of Commissioners will host the second public hearing on November 18th at 6 pm. Both meetings are held at the county administration building located at 790 Veterans Parkway. Please call 770-358-5364 if you have any questions

REZONE REQUEST NOTICE: The applicants have purchased a 9 acre tract that is located on the corner of High Falls Road and Hwy 36 E. The request is to develop the property for a cross docking warehouse, an intermodal support area, and a maintenance shop for the trucking company. The Lamar County Comprehensive Plan shows this parcel (outlined in blue) as part of the Gateway Corridor, while neighboring properties are shown as a combination of Rural Residential and Suburban Residential, with an overlay of a commercial node which is to offer a design opportunity to incorporate connectivity for residents to be close to work and shopping. The current zoning of the adjacent properties is Agricultural-Residential. A rezoning application for Light Manufacturing was proposed for this property in 1975 but was rejected.
