Loretta Lynn said it best “If you’re lookin at me, you’re lookin at country”. Iv seen a lot of articles suggesting that Beyoncé and Kate Middleton are all of the sudden going to change the western way of life by throwing a Stetson on their head. Although I agree that it is cool to see and I hope that it will turn a few heads our way I believe we are getting ahead of ourselves. Look at everything else they stand for? Certainly not much that promotes our way of life. #1 Idolizing anyone is a big “no no” in the book of life. #2 By acting like tossing on a cowboy hat is them somehow supporting our industry and throwing them party for it we are giving into the narrative that we haven’t always celebrated all walks of life in the western industry. I can think of 50 women in this industry I could celebrate before thinking someone like Beyoncé putting out a western album is here to promote us. I love fashion, western fashion, high fashion but that’s all this is to people like her. Yes she should be applauded for her work ethic and I could get behind that but please don’t let people think the western industry hasn’t always been available and open to everyone. If you haven’t been to a winter rodeo this year I can tell you they have been packed with people that know nothing of agriculture and they show up even in this economy. If you need some women to celebrate and see who has really paved the way I highly suggest a trip to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame (and take your daughters). 🤍Happy Friday -

The fact that there are grown men on my Facebook defending FWSSR because it’s such a great rodeo instead of using their voice to protect our children is INSANE to me. As ”rodeo babies” they get the opportunity to see so many places, meet people, experience things in life that some adults never even have the opportunity to do and yet we are now being expected to sweep this incident under the rug for the sake of a “big” rodeo? A rodeo that we have all always felt safe, comfortable, and welcomed. How dare ANYONE including Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo continue to claim that a child being taken right underneath their mothers nose in the contestant hospitality room with older children telling the woman who took the child to leave her alone is “blowing it out of proportion” ! I believe the post I read suggested that maybe we aren’t owed a great hospitality if we are going to smear them, well let me assure you that you won’t have to worry about any rodeo mother giving a s**t about your hospitality when we are treated like this. We love rodeo and we love that our husbands or even some women themselves get to participate in such a great event but no rodeo big or small is more important than the safety of our children. I PRAY the Teel’s fight until there is some sort of answer and footage shown of what exactly went down when their toddler was taken from that hospitality room. God bless those older girls that went straight to the Mother. It is ridiculous that anyone would question the severity of this or question the Mother. Child trafficking is real and it unfortunately happens everyday, sadly ALOT in our great state. FWSSR is one of my favorite rodeos of the year so I can assure you I am devastated that I am now being made to question their integrity. The mothers of the rodeo world want answers and we deserve them.
