Meet Slayte Taylor, an important new perspective on our civic and educational team. Trained as an architect and shaped by the workshop floor, Slayte approaches design through both a conceptual and material lens.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from LSU, and his extensive hands-on experience in steel and wood fabrication allows him to expertly navigate the relationship between drawing and making—where design intent meets material reality. Having worked as a 3D modeler, welder, and design engineer, Slayte believes that strong design emerges from a deep understanding of the drawing board, fabrication floor, and construction site. His work constantly investigates how materials, details, and systems influence form, function, and process. Bringing a rich “material intelligence” to the team, Slayte is dedicated to cross-disciplinary thinking and executing the full arc of a project from conceptual design to final construction.
Deeply committed to community and collaboration, Slayte stays connected to his roots by mentoring students and supporting professors within the LSU School of Architecture. Outside the office, he volunteers with Friends of the Animals (FOTA), stretches his creative muscles through surrealist painting, and channels his lifelong passion for soccer.
Welcome, Slayte!

It also marks the latest milestone in our 25+-year history of collaboration with our partners at Ashe Broussard Weinzettle Architects. Thank you to LSUA, FP&C, and everyone involved for partnering with us to bring this vision to life.

What strategies celebrate the historic downtown of the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase while envisioning its future?
This downtown planning project was made possible by Louisiana Main Street and led by Cane River National Heritage Area and community partners.

Phuong Le joined our partners on the Ivy Corridor housing development at University of Virginia to "top out" the project in a traditional builders' rite with roots in Scandinavia. (Don't forget to appease the ancient tree spirits.) We're working with to design two dining venues, a cafe, and a self-checkout C-store to serve the 800 students who will make a home here.

AIA26 brought Darrin and Liz to San Diego, where they engaged with interactive workshops, fascinating keynotes, public art and project tours, and an inventive turf expo that almost sent Liz home with ten puppies. Always invigorating to spend a weekend with fellow architects.
