The Dwelling Place
Psalms 90:1-2 NIV
Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Today, I want to share something with you that I know. This is not what I have read or learned through someone else’s experience or testimony. This is what I know. If you choose to make the Lord your dwelling place, you make that address available for generations. In 1974, my parents bought lot 1 in Concord Estates and the house that was built on it. At the time, there were people that weren’t pleased with this Black couple buying this nice house and they let it be known through their acts of vandalism. That didn’t change my parent’s dwelling place. They made that address their home, and because I belonged to them it became my home. Years later when we were in the middle of a renovation, it even became my children’s home. That’s three generations, and many others have been blessed at that address and have called it home, even if it was for a short time.

Moses describes God as a dwelling place, an address, a place where you can live and be comfortable. Generation after generation can have this same place, The LORD, be the dwelling place. The LORD can be the place you gather to celebrate, to commiserate, to fellowship, to get strength, to find direction, to sit in peace. All of that can be found in The LORD, and our choices open doors for the generations that come after us. When you choose The LORD to be your God, it’s not just a religious experience. It’s a life, and Jesus said it’s abundant life, the kind that runs over. Take time and think about what you have in Christ, what this life really consists of, and give thanks.

Lord, we thank You today for being our dwelling place. Thank You for being everything we need for every situation and circumstance. Today, give me revelation on what it means to dwell in You. In Jesus’ Name…

Completing the Work
Philippians 1:6 AMPC
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

I have always loved this scripture. The promise that God will continue what He started, that He will carry it on to completion gives me assurance and strengthens my faith. The Lord doesn’t want to partially work in you. He wants to complete the work, and also, the good work is in you. It’s not about what you will do or even the destiny you will fulfill. It’s about what’s going on inside of you. It’s all about that inward transformation. The good work in you is connected to you being transformed by the renewal of your mind.

One thing to note is that the good work that’s going on in you will continue. It is a process. The work in me is making me like Him. It’s the process that helps me live out the life of Christ in this body on this earth. I’ve been told several times to “trust the process.” Here is a process I can actually trust because it’s all about the good work God is doing in me. There’s so much in this one scripture, but for today take a moment and think about what the Lord is doing in you rather than for you. As you allow Him to renew you from the inside, you will find yourself acting like God more and more. Not only will your actions reflect His righteousness, they will also reflect God’s power. God began a good work in you. Be aware of how He is continuing that good work in you today.

Thank You Lord for Your promises. I am confident that You will complete every good thing You have started in me. Today, I am expecting You to work in me to make me more like You and cause Your will to be done. In Jesus’ Name..
