About this time last year I received a call from a TV production company in California. The call was to tell me that Ashley and Micheal Cordray, the hosts of the hit home remodeling show Restoring Galveston wanted to use Magnetite Windows on their biggest project to date. I nearly dropped the phone!!!!

For those not familiar with this Discovery Channel series, let me explain what a BIG DEAL this is for us.

“Restoring Galveston” is a very popular series that typically features one house per episode. At the beginning of the episode the house is in terrible condition. After lots of hard work, clever design choices (and usually a ton of money) the episode ends with the finished product that “looks like” an old house on the outside but has all the modern touches inside. The homes are either sold or converted into short term rentals. It’s fun to watch and the hosts interaction with each other keeps it interesting.

The hosts Ashley and Micheal, LOVE old buildings and are on a mission to save them from being replaced by new ones. They are ADORED by people in Galveston for their passion to keep the town historic and generally making it a better place to live. They are great people!!

Here’s where we come in…

The 6th season (6 full episodes) is ALL about restoring The Mansard House on 23rd Street. This 7700 square foot building was built in 1912 as a boarding house. It had been abandoned for years before the Cordrays bought it. Their vision was to convert it into a fancy boutique hotel while maintaining the historic integrity and charm.

I was filmed and interviewed several times while we installed some of the 80 Magnetite panels on the beautiful, (original) wood windows. By adding our invisible, interior acrylic panels the guests at this historic inn will be more comfortable and sleep better without the noise coming through the windows. Our product will keep “out” the Texas heat, keep the air conditioned air “in” and help save a TON of money on utility costs. The best part is the windows still look like they did 111 years ago.
