This morning’s sunrise reminds me how precious every day and every embrace truly is. I remain stunned and heartbroken by the passing of my dear friend, brother and colleague, Senator Larry Selders.

As we grieve this devastating loss, I am grateful for the countless lives Larry touched and the indelible mark he left on so many, including mine. Larry made this world better not only through his dedicated service in public office, but through the way he treated everyone with authentic love, kindness, and respect.

I am especially grateful for the time we shared serving together in both the House and the Senate. The constant laughs. The encouragement he provided in difficult moments. Those Monday nights at Bennie’s!! And I will forever be grateful that we had the chance to spend time and embrace one another this past weekend in New Orleans. I will cherish that time always.

Please join me in lifting up his wife, Kendra, and his sons, Larry and Luke, by praying for their comfort as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Larry had a way of bringing light into every room he entered. His legacy of service, compassion, and love for others will live on. Thank you, my friend, for allowing me to walk alongside you for part of your journey. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
