Oregon just introduced a new incentive for job creation and it’s worth a look for growing businesses.
Under SB 1507-A, employers can claim a $1,000 tax credit per new job created in Oregon, up to $10,000 per year. To qualify, positions must pay at least 150% of the applicable minimum wage, and employers must obtain certification from the Oregon Business Development Department before claiming the credit.
A few key points:
• Based on net job growth year-over-year
• Credit cannot exceed tax liability
• Unused credits can be carried forward for up to 3 years
While the dollar amount is modest, this is a straightforward incentive that rewards meaningful job creation especially for businesses already expanding their workforce.
If your business is hiring in Oregon, now is a good time to review your eligibility and plan ahead. Reach out if you want help evaluating whether you qualify or navigating the certification process.

Georgia continues expanding its workforce incentive strategy with the passage of HB 519, creating a new state-level Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) tied directly to the federal program.
Beginning in 2026, eligible employers may claim a Georgia credit equal to the federal WOTC amount, capped at $500 per qualifying employee and subject to a $10M annual statewide cap.
The bill is currently awaiting Governor Kemp’s signature, and if enacted, would position Georgia among a growing number of states leveraging workforce-based tax incentives to support hiring and retention.
Worth watching how this interacts with the uncertainty surrounding federal WOTC reauthorization.
