Meet Petey, the charming 2-year-old Chiweenie on the lookout for a new home! At 12 pounds, this adorable little guy is full of personality and love. While he’s s been a loyal companion to his family, Petey is struggling to adjust to a new baby, and we think he’d be much happier in a home where he can get all the attention he deserves.

Petey is friendly with everyone he meets from kids to cats, dogs, and adults alike. He’s s a lap lover, obedient, and playful, with a fun knack for fetch and toy time. Crate-trained and leash-trained, he’s also housetrained and has low grooming needs. Petey’s gentle, affectionate nature makes him an ideal companion, and he’s s eager to please. He’ll do best with a fenced yard where he can run and play, making him the perfect addition to any active family!

If you are interested in one of these dogs, the best option is to go to the shelter...you can also call but they are not usually near the phone during the day.

These dogs were at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter as of the date of this album. Some are available now, some may still be on hold and available soon, some may be "rescue only" due to their age, some may have owners who will be coming to claim them, some may not be available due to pending animal cruelty charges, etc. This is a public shelter that takes in many animals each week, consider them all urgent.

Samantha (Sam, Sammie) arrived last month at her foster home after showing up at the NYCACC. Because she was lactating they thought she was ready to give birth and asked if we could take her. How could we say no? Sam arrived and she was super scared, she was also not pregnant (which we determined after a few weeks of no pups, and a vet-confirmed x-ray). Instead, we believe she was post partum, had already given birth and then somehow ended up as a stray in NYC. Hmmmm. She is barely a puppy herself. Sam is extremely sweet, but she is also quite timid. Her foster is working with her to become more social and less scared and Sam is making progress. However, Sam will need a family prepared to work with a shy dog. Sam is very good with the cats in her foster home and would be ok with friendly dogs, and older kids who can show Sam calm and gentle behavior. She really is the sweetest! Pet overpopulation, animal surrenders, and abandonment are at an all-time high, with donations, fosters and support at an all-time low.
