What does this pendant watch reveal about King James the VI and I?⌚ A soft spot for his favourite, Robert Kerr. Kerr was the Earl of Somerset. This silver pocket watch was given by James VI to Robert as a symbol of affection. Aw. It was made around 1615 by Scotsman David Ramsay, later Chief Clockmaker to the King 👑 Within a year of receiving the watch, Somerset fell dramatically from grace and the King’s favour. In 1700s Lanarkshire, native horses were bred with Flemish stallions for greater weight and power. The result? The mighty Clydesdales.

Clydesdales gained popularity throughout the 19th century. At their peak, there were 140,000 farm horses in Scotland - and most of them were Clydesdales. Tractors and other machine may have replaced them on the modern farm, but they’ve never been replaced in our hearts. 🐴 💗
