Jenny Morgan (b. 1982 Salt Lake City, UT) is a painter living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her diaphanous paintings are rooted in precise, hyper-realistic figures which ebb in and out of focus, merging into landscape or diffusing gently into a painterly fog. There is a razor’s edge quality in the calm precision of Morgan’s deliberate brush stroke, which can be quick and expressive as well as invisible and precise. Beyond the objectivity of corporeal features, Morgan engages with the auras of her subjects while also expanding on the aliveness of the inert—both landscape and drapery. In doing so, she delves into philosophical questions surrounding the human condition. Her work recalls numerous art historical references, from Venetian reclining nudes to playful rococo paintings to 20th century surrealist landscapes, all while imbuing a hypnotic, euphoric, and hyper-present setting.

Emily Kiacz received her MFA in painting from Boston University in 2011 and her BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2009. She has been awarded fellowships at The Corporation of Yaddo, Tilleard Projects Residency, The Edward F. Albee Foundation, and Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, among others. Over the last nine years she has participated in numerous exhibitions including at Cuevas Tilleard Projects, Morgan Lehman Gallery and White Columns. Her work is included in the collections of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Smith College. Kiacz lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
