This table runner was hooked as a Show and Tell project go South Central Mcgown Teachers Workshop (SCMTW). The pattern “Primitive Flowers “ designed by Connie Bradley is available from Honey Bee Hive Rug Hooking (PR1612-D). I was to hook it like Crewel Embroidery using 2, 3, 4, and 5 cuts. I finished it with a wool backing to cover up the underside and crocheted the edges and added a decorative border on the ends.

I picked up this pattern called Three Lighthouses several years ago during a visit to Cape Cod. I began to hook it in a class with Anita White who handed me a black and white plaid wool and challenged me to use the white parts to hook the lighthouses. I used a #5 or 6 cut and carefully selected the worms to hook and was able to “shade” and give dimension to the lighthouses. I spot died the wool for the sky by arranging the wool in a pan with a fair amount of water and spooning the dye onto the wool leaving some undyed areas. I cut the strips and hooked random worms as I grabbed them.
