Heart Attack vs. Cardiac Arrest– Do you know the difference? During CPR & AED Awareness Week, here’s what everyone should know:

🫀 A heart attack happens when blood flow to the heart is blocked — the person may still be awake and talking.
⚡ Cardiac arrest is when the heart suddenly stops — the person collapses and becomes unresponsive.
‼️ Both require an immediate call to 911!

In an emergency, every second counts. Learn lifesaving skills by taking an upcoming CPR/AED & First Aid training class at https://www.mediconefoundation.org/programs/cpr/

Some of the hardest calls in EMS involve children and families.

In those moments, fire and EMS professionals are asked to bring not only skill and experience, but calm, compassion, and reassurance during incredibly difficult situations.

This EMS Week, we recognize the people who care for our communities during life’s most emotional moments.
