At the Whatcom Community College 2021 Commencement Ceremony, Wing-Sze Marisa So was recognized as a recipient of the International Student Service award, the annual recognition of an international student who has provided exceptional service to the college.
Marisa came to Whatcom in the Fall of 2018 from Hong Kong, and soon after set herself apart as a student who was ready to make an impact at Whatcom. Marisa served as an International Orientation Assistant for multiple quarters, providing support to newly arrived international students. She continued in that role after classes shifted to online learning in response to the pandemic, helping new students to navigate Whatcom virtually.
Marisa provided service to the college in a broad variety of ways including her roles as Secretary and Vice President of the ASWCC Psychology Club - and by volunteering at events such as Global Cultural Night, the Students Leading Change Conference, and Orca Day. She even found time to join student work parties for the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association.

At the Whatcom Community College 2021 Commencement Ceremony, Breanne Huckabone was recognized as a recipient of the President's Award. The President’s Award honors extraordinary service to the campus community and significant contribution to a discipline or program of study. The recipient of the President’s Award also exemplifies the highest standards of academic accomplishment, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above.
After working in the field of geography for many years, Breanne came to Whatcom to pursue a career change into the healthcare field. At WCC, Breanne served as president of the Student Nurses of Whatcom club. This spring, her and her fellow nursing students selflessly volunteered their time at the Community Vaccination Clinic, and partnered with the Whatcom County Health Department and Bellingham Technical College to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to community members. After graduating with her nursing degree, Breanne plans to work in a hospital setting and eventually pursue a master’s degree in public health.
Outside of her schoolwork, Breanne volunteers as a ski patroller at the Mount Baker Ski Area. She is also the 2020-21 WCC Foundation Stacie Rae Morse and Baby Delta Rae Memorial Scholarship recipient.

At the Whatcom Community College 2021 Commencement Ceremony, Maggie Feeney was recognized as a recipient of the Visual Communications Discipline Outstanding Student award.
Maggie is an excellent designer and student who is already producing high quality graphic design in the creation of COVID-19 related publications to combat the pandemic through her job at WWU.
WCC prepress instructor Curt Pavia noted that she was known for "producing quality work, effective communication, and understanding the content." Maggie has balanced working while earning a degree with great skill.
