Experiencing the wild in a new way this weekend by looking at the ways we can heal with wild sources.
I have been examining what the next years will bring as I search out a direction for my life and in turn, the direction of Heart Powered Adventures. I believe strongly that we need the outdoors, community, and play to thrive but I have also been thinking deeply on my own journey and believe that health is at the core of being able to adventure to our higher power, experience this world in its fullest and affect others most wholly.
With that, I am excited to announce that I will be going back to school for nutrition and eventually plan to incorporate nutrition into the threads of what I am hoping to share through Heart Powered Adventures. With that, there may be some push and pull on timing but I plan to try to stay engaged and offer adventures throughout the next couple years as I transition from working to being a student again.

Today, we remember the 412 first responders that gave everything and the people that we lost both that day and over the next 20 years to 9/11 related illnesses. Today we remember the bravery of those who ran toward danger, those who confronted hijackers, and those who’s courageous last moments will never been fully known. Today, we reflect on how the world has changed from 20 years and 1 day ago and the sacrifices of those who have volunteered to serve in the decades after.
But today, let us also remember how it felt to be alive on September 12, 2001. Let us remember how we came together as a nation in solidarity like never before- flags selling out, grateful people hugging each other, neighbors baking pies for neighbors and mowing lawns for those in need.
Today, we are more divided than ever, more angry with the political climate, more disillusioned with what it means to sacrifice self for love of our fellow human.
Today, while we remember the loss and the courage, the pain and the fear, may we also remember how it felt to see the best parts of human beings in all of their humanity and vow to rally like we did on 9/12. May we care for each other selflessly and move to bridge our differences to heal. May we make the conscious choice to do better, to be better for ourselves, our communities, and the brave souls that are not here to see today.

Wow… amazing what fresh air, sunshine, sweat, dust and mosquitos do for the soul. Heart Powered Adventures has been on a hiatus but plans are in the works to increase programming with some big ideas to create community. It will be put out shortly but in the meantime, hope you are seizing your own adventures 💜🌕🌟

Taking a few days after a family vacation to explore a new (to me) part of the country and scheme for some roving adventures!
Who woulda thunk I’d escape the PNW heat in the southeast!?
9 ladders, a few cables and some moderate exposure led to a great view. Where would you love to go??

“Be brave enough to be bad at something new.”
Today was hard. Today was challenging. Today was awe inspiring. Today was the most fun I’ve had in a while. I have honestly been afraid to dabble in mountaineering, unsure if I can physically do it or if my body will find the limit. I didn’t feel great today and I struggled and there were moments I had to chase off feelings of embarrassment when I was slow or had to stop bc my heart was being ornery. Then, I was afraid of the ice axe arrests. Throwing yourself down a hill (ok, mountain) covered in ice doesn’t seem very intuitive.
But... I tried it. And guess what?! I’m in love. With the mountains, with glissading, with cursing my way through the kick steps up hills. All of it. I feel alive because I tried something new. Even though there were moments of sufferfest there were bigger moments of breathtaking awe.... at the mountains, at human beings and what they’re capable of, at joy, at myself.
It was all possible bc I tried something new today. What are you going to discover when step outside your comfort zone?

Beat after a couple of long days on shift without much sleep and a quick turn around to another long shift coming up. A little lounging and puppy snuggles are on my agenda today. What do you do when your body is yearning for rest??
