Our Story
WSU Extension’s Food $ense program serves youth and adults with limited resources. Our focus is to develop skills and behaviors to eat healthfully. Families learn nutrition basics and smart buying strategies to help make healthy choices even if your food dollars are tight.
¿Qué es Food $ense?
Food $ense es un programa de educación sobre nutrición ofrecido por Washington State University Extension. Nuestro objetivo es ayudar a las personas a comer alimentos seguros y saludables con un presupuesto limitado.
WSU Food $ense is funded by a federal grant from the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. In Whatcom County, we currently work with schools in the Bellingham, Nooksack Valley, and Ferndale school districts.
Strong community partnerships allow us to deliver nutrition education in non-school settings as well. Practical tips are shared in adult and family classes at food banks, affordable housing sites, farmers markets, Senior living sites, community health clinics, preschools, and community centers.
