Northwest Indian College is in the second year of a five-year capacity building grant from the Department of Education. It supports the development of the 4 bachelor's degree programs: Human Services, Native Studies Leadership, Native Environmental Science, and Tribal Governance and Business Adminisration.

The top five tribal affiliations of students enrolled at NWIC include: Yakama, Nooksack, Tulalip, Nez Perce, and Lummi
