The patent for the first snowboard was filed by a 13 year old and issued in 1939 proving once again that inventors come in all shapes and sizes.
At the age of 13, Vern Wicklund fashioned an early version of a snowboard from a modified sled, and filed for a patent with his relatives years later. They received the patent in 1939.
