Fort Worth has over 100 miles of trails - and the stretch by Press Cafe at Clearfork might be the best-kept secret in the city.

Walked 3.89 miles of the Trinity River Trail this morning. Started at the trailhead by Press Cafe, crossed under the Clearfork bridge, and didn’t want to turn around. According to Trinity Trails, the full system connects 31 neighborhoods and 21 parks across the city.

The trail was alive - bikers, joggers, dog walkers, strollers. The kind of crowd that tells you a city is investing in itself.

And if you haven’t been to Press Cafe yet - go. Classic Fort Worth aesthetic. Southwest meets industrial meets “I could stay here all morning.” Multi-level layout, natural materials, patio that earns every good review it’s gotten. It’s the kind of place that makes a neighborhood feel like somewhere.

Anyway - if you’re wondering why people keep choosing Fort Worth, this is part of the answer. It’s not just affordable. It’s livable.

On The Border is closing.

According to CultureMap Fort Worth, every company-owned location is shutting down by end of day Friday, June 12.  That’s it. Lights out.

Here’s the quick backstory.

The brand filed for bankruptcy in March 2025 — blaming inflation, rising costs, and people just not showing up.  A Houston restaurant group called Pappas bought them out of bankruptcy. Seemed like a rescue. Anyway, it wasn’t

The store count went from over 150 locations in late 2024 down to 57 by January of this year.  Now it’s headed to zero — at least for company-owned spots.

The bigger picture? The National Restaurant Association says 60% of restaurant operators reported lower customer traffic in December 2025.  That’s not just one chain struggling. That’s a pattern.

When a restaurant closes in a strip center, it doesn’t just affect where you grab chips and queso on a Tuesday. It affects neighboring businesses, foot traffic, and how developers think about what comes next in that space. That’s worth knowing if you live here.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Posse says the 79th Annual Frontier Days Parade kicks things off Saturday, June 6th at 6:00 PM in Downtown Weatherford  — and that’s just the opening act.

📅 June 11 — 5:30 PM | Exceptional Rodeo

The street dance is free, family friendly, and set up right on the corner of Dallas and York Street on the northwest quadrant of the square.  Food trucks will be on site, and a crawfish boil fires up at 7 PM.  Coolers welcome. No dress code. Just show up.

This is the kind of week that reminds you why people move out here in the first place. A parade, a crawfish boil, a street dance, five nights of rodeo, and live music every single night. This year’s rodeo also celebrates America’s 250th anniversary  — so the hometown pride is hitting a little different in 2026.

June 2026 is stacked with music in Fort Worth 🎵

Billy Bobs has live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening in June.

I’m excited about Randy Rogers and Pat Green on the 19th - takes me back LJT in the early 2010’s.

Anyway, I’ve been out of the local music scene for a while and I’m not hip on all these new cats.
