In Oregon’s high desert and across the nation, public lands are under threat. Just last year, during the 2025 federal budget reconciliation process, Senate Republicans nearly passed a provision to sell at least one million acres of federal public lands.

To protect public lands and counter this threat, Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden are introducing a bill—the Public Lands Integrity Act—that would prohibit the expedited sale of public lands as part of budget reconciliation bills.
