Good news!

Yesterday, a federal court ruled that four key provisions (issued in 2019) that implement the Endangered Species Act are unlawful. The lawsuit was brought on
by the Center for Biological Diversity () , Sierra Club () , and WildEarth Guardians () , who were all represented by
Earthjustice ()!

This is a huge win for endangered species in our country, making it more difficult for the administration to undermine protections for the plants and animals that need it most.

Thank you to all of those organizations that worked so hard to fight for our wildlife!

Wolves BELONG ♥️ wild and free

A newly released preprint from the University of Vienna debunks a long‑standing myth: our fear of wolves isn’t an evolutionary reflex, it’s a product of culture and narrative.

The research team scanned the brains of 42 volunteers while they viewed images of wolves, domestic dogs, and snakes. While the snake images triggered threat responses in subcortical brain regions, the wolves and dogs did not. In fact, the neural data showed almost no difference between how our brains process wolves versus dogs. But when asked to rate how threatening each animal seemed, the participants overwhelmingly said wolves were scarier than dogs.

This disconnect reveals something profound: opposition to wolves is a learned belief, not an instinct. The authors found that stories and stereotypes—such as Little Red Riding Hood—frame wolves as the “bad guys,” but these attitudes can be shifted through education, communication, and coexistence strategies.

It’s time we rewrite the narrative. With science, we can counter fear‑mongering and show our communities that wolves are not monsters but a species worthy of respect and protection.
