Think of email deliverability as a game.

And I'm not talking about a friendly round of cards.

This is more like a massive multiplayer online game where everyone's trying to reach the same castle at the top of the mountain.

Where 85% of the players never make it past the first level.

And every server has its own rulebook.

When logging in for the first time you realize no one agrees on the basic controls.

The mailbox providers like Google, Yahoo, and Outlook are all-powerful game masters, constantly tweaking the rules.

The recipient is the princess in the castle you're trying to reach.
SMTP backends are like invisible moderators, watching your every move.

And you're a player, trying to get past all the crazy obstacles, level up, and reach that castle.

To WIN at this game of email deliverability, you need to stay on top of the unwritten rules of this ever-changing game.

You need to understand the game masters' expectations.

You need to learn how to impress the NPCs.

And find creative ways to stand out while still playing by their constantly shifting rules.

Because at the end of the day, it all comes down to reaching that castle.

The marketer who cracks the code wins the favor of the princess.

Their messages actually reach the inbox.

And their emails become the ones people can't wait to open.

There will always be players out there using cheat codes and hacks.

Spamming, hacking into accounts, and pretending to be something they’re not in order to gain access to secure information - all the black hat techniques.

And because of these bad actors, the game masters have to keep changing the rules.

Suddenly, your tried-and-true strategies stop working.

Your perfectly legitimate emails start landing in the spam folder.

It feels like you're being punished even when you’re playing fair.

This email game - it’s not for the weak.

It’s survival of the fittest.

Players who adapt, who stay on top of the changing rules, who find creative ways to play within the system - they're the ones who ultimately succeed.

Are you ready to level up your email game?

Or will you keep ignoring the game masters' rules and wonder why you can’t get past level one?

In this game, ignorance is NOT bliss.

Email isn't dead.

It’s just being done wrong.

Most marketers treat their list like one big blob.

As if everyone's the same person in the same place at the same time with the same problems.

Contrary to how email marketing is typically approached, it’s not a 1:Many game.

That list (the one you “blast”) is full of real people - with real pain, fears, and frustrations - real goals, dreams, and aspirations.

But marketers do what marketers do best, right? They market.

They focus on Solutions (Offer, Deadline, Offer, Deadline, FOMO, Urgency…)

Statistically, most of your audience is only Problem Aware (not Solution Aware).

Which means they’re only talking to a small percentage of their list - those ready for a solution.

It’s no wonder email marketing feels dead.

Your email strategy needs new life breathed into it.

Those people - each one of them - How about you to meet them right where they’re at?

Show them you truly understand their problem.

In the endless sea of content coming at them, you’ll be the only one who actually “gets” them.

And when people believe you understand their problem,

They automagically assume you have the solution.

This is basic psychology (and, frankly, the right thing to do).

So stop treating your email list like they should all stand at attention to you.

Show them you actually care about their problem - that you’re there for them, and they matter.

It’ll be a Win-Win!

Your bottom line (through the people you serve) will thank you.
