It’s quarterly offsite time again! Started the day off with a delightful hike along Tumalo Creek at sunrise to get the blood moving. Now we’re settled in at Thump Coffee for the first session of the day! It’s been a bit of a whirlwind quarter, and all of us are feeling a bit off center. That’s what these meetings are for - to rejuvenate, recenter, and get back on the path to where everybody wants to go!

Here’s to a great offsite!

At 262 Creative, one area we’re focusing on as a business is making sure what we deliver matches—or exceeds—our promises, especially related to timelines.

This ties in with our core value of being relational: We want our relationships to be based on honesty and transparency, not talking ourselves up and then scrambling to explain when we fall short.

One of our role models for this value is (pun intended) our longtime client, Model Technology Solutions, an IT managed services provider. They take this principle so seriously that they’ve baked it into their core values.

Recently, we had the opportunity to capture this value through a video we created for them.

As we’ve said so many times before, thank you Model for inspiring us as we work to ensure our estimates always match or exceed the time we deliver in!

In the IT managed services business, industry experience matters. Saying a healthcare company needs the same IT support as a manufacturing company is like saying you’ll find the same kinds of folks in Madras and Bend just because they’re both located in Central Oregon. (Sorry, inside joke from our home base here in on the West Coast!)

The point is, different industries have different needs, even when there's a common theme (e.g. IT support). For an IT managed services provider, proving that you understand those unique needs—and have delivered results in that industry before—is crucial to winning new clients.

This is a service video we created for one of our cornerstone clients, Model Technology Solutions. Model has extensive experience in the manufacturing industry. We took that specialized knowledge and turned it into a service video that shows Model’s expertise in manufacturing IT services.

Thanks Model for sharing with us what you do and why it's important to folks working to keep production lines online!

We created this television ad for Journey Church, one of our cornerstone clients, based on the deep understanding we've built of them and their brand.

Every decision, from the music to the central message, was intentionally chosen with their preferences in mind and a clear focus on what would resonate most with their Central Oregon audience!

"Central Oregon shall be saved" is a vision that's near and dear to Journey's leadership team, so we knew from the beginning that it needed to be the centerpiece of the video.

We helped direct pastors Keith and Luke on set to make sure this critical message was impossible to miss - kinda like having kids blow kazoos full blast in your face while you're trying to film kids church...

Not that THAT has ever happened before...

Next, the music. Normally, we’d go with a straight hip hop/rap track for Journey Church to match their brand style. But, we recognized that their typical musical style might not resonate with their broader, all of Central Oregon TV audience.

So, we chose a track that still had heavy hip hop influences, as well as a subtle country twang - a simple yet effective way to stay true to Journey's brand while helping the video feel more familiar to an older, more rural crowd.

Finally, the call to action. Instead of a having full website URL flash across the screen to be forgotten and/or ignored, we opted for “Google Bend Church in the Park.” Easy to remember and easy for someone watching on TV to grab their smartphone and search for on the spot.

I always presence before an interview that I can (and will) edit the interview. Letting my interviewee know this makes them feel safe enough to make mistakes, try different things, or say things in a different way. It makes the interview into more of a conversation and less of an interrogation.

The last thing you want is for your interview to feel like you're in cell-block C grilling your interviewee. Nothing has to be right on the first try, and nothing will be used against you in a court of law. Everything can be removed or edited!
