As the VP of Marketing & Communications in my full-time role (one person marketing team), I’ve had the honor of helping tell stories that matter — stories rooted in history, community, people, and purpose.

I thought a page got hacked. However, it was Meta's new feature.Have you heard about this?
It's Meta’s new automatic reel variation test.
This feature:
• Cuts a successful reel into multiple shorter clips
• Publishes them from your page automatically
• Tests which version performs best
Important:
This bypasses the remix setting because Meta itself is creating the variations, not another user.
So technically the system treats it as “optimization,” not remixing.
Meta’s algorithm usually triggers this when a reel has:
• high watch time
• strong early engagement
• people re-watching
• viewers watching past 70–90% completion
Ironically, sensitive videos like memorials or heart felt tributes often perform very strongly, which likely triggered the system for this page.
The problem:
It does it without your permission.
The AI does not understand context like:
• Memorials/Tributes
• Sensitive announcements like loss of a child/loved one, etc.
It just sees engagement signals.
Fun fact:
Meta is currently testing this feature with no visible toggle for some Pages to turn it off.
When that happens:
• The system automatically generates reel variations
• It publishes them under your Page without your approval
• Admins cannot disable it yet
This is happening mostly to professional/business Pages with good engagement.
