Inspect and maintain grinding equipment. Replace worn screens and blades. Follow the two-step grinding process: coarse grind (2 mm) followed by fine grind (1 mm cyclone mill) to match calibration standards. Grinding to 1mm creates a finer particle size that is more reflective to light yet still provides an adequate surface area for NIRS analysis. Grinding to 1mm also facilitates a more homogenous sample.
