The Botanical Bus is a beautiful, growing, and very necessary community service project providing health and wellness clinics for farm workers, indigenous and migrant families. Three in five Botanical Bus clients report clinically significant emotional distress. The stress of displacement and migration is compounded by social isolation and acculturation that marginalize cultural identity and traditional healing practices. Botanical Bus’ healthcare services provide Latine and Indigenous immigrants a sense of place and radical belonging that is foundational to healing justice.

This year, we will provide 3,120 direct healthcare services to 1,339 clients through 31 mobile clinic events and an additional 74 wellness workshops organized at community care hubs.

Through grounding group circles, art therapy, medicinal plants and nutrition, we affirm:

Good reminder. It's easy to give a laundry list of things to do ...but I can't give someone the time to do it. The brain space. The hours of needed sleep...
Building community can feel like another thing on the to do list but asking for help and helping where you can really does weave us together. Not helping "at your expense", not without some boundary. "No, i don't have capacity right now" IS self care. More like- sharing what we have ...food, adding someone's shopping list to yours if you're going to the store anyway, help with chores while someone is recovering...and self careing together! A walk, soup swap, poster making for protests, chores, doing homework or learning new things with others builds bonds and our capacity individually and as a network. 🕸️🏋🏾‍♀️💫❤️
