SAMBA DE GAFEIRA: Zero to Dancefloor

Adapted from the highly successful “Do Zero ao Baile” program founded in Salvador, Bahia, which in its 13 editions has introduced Samba de Gafieira to hundreds of students, our Zero to Dancefloor classes will connect the elements and principles that constitute the core of the Gafieira.

We will learn the reasons and sensations of why we move the way we do in Samba, and build bases to dialogue and connect with oneself, with others, and with the culture and history of Samba.

As we dance together, we will learn the basic elements that constitute the formal language of Samba de Gafieira, but always with room for improvisation, as the dance is alive and is created by those who dance!

All levels (including complete beginners) are welcome! �

Gafieira Improvers: Entradas e Saidas

8:00-9:00pm�July 02, 09, 23, 30

Transitions (entries and exits) are pivotal moments in partner dancing—times when we truly need to understand our partner and synchronize our movements. In this course, we will revisit this skill and learn variations and flourishes to develop autonomy and individuality that go beyond mere synchronization! Saídas in tempo, contratempo, S, and saídas in escovinha—we’ll cover it all in this course!

Pre requisites: completion of at least one Zero to Dancefloor course, or familiarity with the following movements (puladinho redondo, gancho redondo & saída lateral)
