Namaste! Sounds of thunderstorms welcomed me when I got up this early morning for my mantra meditation! Numerous Vedic scriptures portray this season exhorting it's beauty, see for an example this shloka or verse from the epic text, Balmiki Ramayan. Written over 7th century before Christ, it is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature and consists of nearly 24,000 verses divided into seven kāṇḍa (chapters).
Below is what you will relish from it on the herald of this monsoon season:

नव मास धृतम् गर्भम् भास्कारस्य गभस्तिभिः |
पीत्वा रसम् समुद्राणाम् द्यौः प्रसूते रसायनम् || ३-२८-३

nava maasa dhR^itam nine months after sustaining; garbham the pregnancy; bhaaskaarasya gabhastibhiH = with sun's sunrays
rasam piitvaa guzzling the essence; samudraaNaam of oceans dyauH heaven, sky; prasuute is giving birth rasaayanam of elixir of life.

"Sustaining a nine-month pregnancy, impregnated through the Sun with his sunrays guzzling the essence of oceans, the heaven is giving birth to the elixir of life. [3-28-3]

The atmosphere stores water drawn through the sunrays for a nine-month period, from the month of kaartiika to aaSaaDha in Vedic calendar, roughly from November to July in India. After keeping that essence in air, it delivers rainwater, the elixir of life, in the month of shraavaNa. It is an extract of six rasa-s elixirs, for the utilization of various crops.
