Amidst a sea of horrific Supreme Court decisions - including allowing asylum seekers to be turned away and preventing trans kids from being on sports teams with their classmates - there have been two positive decisions.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court denied the Trump administration its demand to interfere with state election administration and made clear that Mississippi voters’ mail-in-ballots can be counted. This a huge win for voters' rights.

Today, the Supreme Court upheld the right to birthright citizenship.

These two decisions protect our democracy. However, we cannot celebrate a Supreme Court that has so damaged the rights of asylum seekers and trans kids.

Our grantee Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights San Francisco just won an incredible victory in federal court to protect immigrants.

We granted $20,000 to help fund this case.

The number of people who have been harmed by this practice is heartbreaking, but reason and compassion have prevailed thanks to the lawyers at LCCRSF.

A majority of Supreme Court justices ruled today that the Trump administration may turn back asylum seekers at ports of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border. Despite lower courts repeatedly ruling that doing so violated federal immigration law and international law, six justices concluded the opposite.

We lament today’s SCOTUS decision in Mullin v. Al Otro Lado, and concur with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in her dissent.

Birthright citizenship may be terminated as soon as this Thursday when the Supreme Court rules on Barbara v. Trump.
