A clean and healthy home environment is a top priority for our participants. Teaching proper home care and cleaning is reinforced through routine housing inspections and a little accountability. After texting throughout the day with Zoe, Dori realized they both needed motivation to tackle their kitchens at the end of a long day. Along with a friendly race, leading by example, and sharing transparency about the condition of her own kitchen proved to be a good motivator for them both to get the job done.

We learned about the dangers of filling the (something) with alcohol, drugs, scrolling, video games, love from others, etc. The danger takes root in the lie that anything on earth could fill the spot that only Jesus can. We discussed truths in the Bible, including Matthew 11:28-30, "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me, and you'll recover your life. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you'll learn to live freely, lightly, and with hope.”
