Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, Rescue Squad 741B and Ambulance 741B responded along with units from Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Glen Echo to a house fire in the 4600 block of Drummond Ave., in Chevy Chase.
The first arriving engine reported an outside-in fire in the rear that had extended from the deck on the ground floor up to the attic.
While other crews worked to extinguish the fire, the squad crew forced entry through a basement-level door and conducted searches of all floors. The squad crew controlled gas and electric utilities, and assisted in overhaul on the third floor.
Ambulance 741B evaluated the residents to ensure that there were no injuries or medical issues. Additionally, it managed the firefighter rehabilitation operation, assessing firefighters as they rotated out of the structure.
Rescue Squad 741B operated on the scene for approximately two hours before returning to service. Ambulance 741B remained on the scene for nearly another hour, as the remaining units completed overhaul.
