Joseph Gorman is Rebecca’s Wish July Pancreas Pal. When Joseph was diagnosed at 5 we were all devastated because we knew his life would never be normal. We were right he hasn’t had a normal life, but he’s created a special one. He’s always willing to provide solidarity and comfort to new campers and kids just getting diagnosed with hereditary pancreatitis. He’s never said no to providing his resources to research. He’s stood tall and proud and gave his story to a room full of adult advocates in Washington D.C., and notably was the only person who spoke on the importance of mental health with chronic diseases. He’s walked into his local representatives offices and sat through numerous zoom meetings and bravely gave his story to secure research funding for pancreatitis, while my hands were shaking next to him. He’s definitely not normal, he’s special. 💜

Thank you to all the sponsors, medical staff, counselors, the kids, and caregivers who make Camp Hope a dream come true for children with pediatric pancreatitis! When my son was young, all he ever wanted to do was go to a real summer camp; we never thought that would be possible until Camp Hope! It's changed his life in so many beautiful ways. Hops~For~Hope Fundraiser event at Cahaba Brewery in Birmingham, Alabama was a successful fundraising event! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, supported the cause and donated to the silent auction. We plan on having more collaborations with the Alabama Pancreas Cancer Research Foundation and UAB’s Pancreatobiliary Disease Center in the future. 💜👏🏼

The Birmingham Chapter of the National Pancreas Foundation, UAB, and the Alabama Pancreas Cancer Foundation are teaming up for a Hops and Hope fundraising event. There will be food, a silent auction, a tabling event, games, music, and fun at Cahaba Brewery's outside parking space on Saturday, May 30, from 2-6. We're looking for businesses or organizations to donate items or services to our silent auction and to set up for tabling.
