Spring refresh at Johnston Mansion 🌿
Students from Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School spent time on site clearing the grounds, working along the main walkway and stone walls, and painting foundation access panels. They also continued the removal of the existing fountain, which had deteriorated beyond practical repair, with plans for a new fountain in its place.
Work continues to focus on maintaining the property while preparing areas of the site for next steps.
Many thanks to the students and instructors for their continued efforts at the mansion. Their work is greatly appreciated!

Hey! What’s going on with the orange flags on the lawn at the Mansion?

They’re marking spots for a perc test, where crews check how the soil drains as part of planning for a new septic system. It’s another step toward getting the Mansion ready for future use.

This work is connected to the Archie Project, a volunteer group supporting long term planning for the site. They are also exploring historic recognition through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

We’d love your help. If you have any old photos, stories, or information about the Johnston family or the property, please send us a message through our page. Thank you!
