Success is rarely one giant decision. It’s the small things you consistently do when nobody is watching.

In this episode of the Business Spotlight series, Marcia Erickson sits down with Tim Schlicksup, Owner of Knilans' Furniture & Interior Design, to talk about his journey from manufacturing engineering to taking over his family's furniture business.

Tim shares what it takes to build a business that can operate without the owner, his leadership philosophy, and how empowering the right team can create more freedom and stronger results. He also discusses the challenges facing the furniture industry after the major buying boom of 2020 to 2023, changing customer shopping habits, and the importance of creating a personalized experience.

Tim explains how Knilans' Furniture helps customers design beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting spaces, from furniture and flooring to window treatments, lighting, rugs, accessories, and professional interior design services.

You'll also hear Tim's advice for business owners on defining what success means to you, designing your business around the life you want, staying consistent, and having the courage to pursue your vision.

Whether you're a business owner, entrepreneur, aspiring leader, or simply interested in the story behind a successful family business, this conversation offers practical insights on leadership, customer experience, entrepreneurship, and building a business that works for you.
