Senator-elect Iowa Senate District 47 Without their work, the best policies are quickly undone by theft, violence, and dangerous streets.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Scott Naumann for many years — first as a fellow Bettendorf Council Member and now as a strong advocate for our city and region at the Statehouse. Scott has always been a cheerleader for Bettendorf, bringing a steady hand, business sense, and proven leadership to every conversation.

This Tuesday, November 4, Bettendorf’s 4th Ward has an important choice to make. Scott’s opponent is a inexperienced in local government — while Scott brings 16 years of trusted experience, fiscal responsibility, and a deep commitment to keeping Bettendorf strong.

I encourage my Bettendorf friends, neighbors, and everyone who values steady, principled leadership to get out and vote for Scott Naumann for City Council. Let’s keep Bettendorf moving forward with trusted leadership and common-sense decision-making.

Experience Matters!!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Charlie Kirk. More than a respected political analyst, Charlie was a devoted family man whose love for his loved ones was evident to all who knew him. In this difficult moment, we extend our heartfelt prayers to his family, friends, and all who are grieving his loss.

Charlie dedicated much of his life to political analysis and public discourse. Whether people agreed or disagreed with him, his work reflected a deep commitment to understanding our democracy.

As we reflect on his life, let it be a reminder that politics should never come at the cost of our shared humanity. In a time when name-calling, division, and even political violence have become far too common, we must recommit ourselves to civility, compassion, and respect—especially for those with whom we may disagree.

Let us honor Charlie’s legacy by seeking understanding over conflict, and by putting people and families first

Gov. Reynolds issues disaster proclamation for Scott County in response to severe weather
DES MOINES— Today, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Scott County in response to severe weather that occurred on July 10, 2025. Gov. Reynolds’ proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program for those counties. The proclamation is effective immediately and expires on August 13, 2025.

The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program provides grants up to $7,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of personal property or food, and temporary housing expenses. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery. The grant application and instructions are available on the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website. Potential applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to apply.

The Disaster Case Advocacy Program addresses serious needs related to disaster-related hardship, injury, or adverse conditions. Disaster case advocates work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice, and referrals to obtain a service or resource. There are no income eligibility requirements for this program; it closes 180 days from the date of Gov. Reynolds’ proclamation. For information on the Disaster Case Advocacy Program, contact your local community action association, or visit iowacommunityaction.org.

For more information on disaster-related programs and resources available to Iowans, visit the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department website at Homelandsecurity.iowa.gov.

Mark your calendars! 🍔🌭

Join us on Saturday, June 28th from 11AM–1PM at Fareway for our department’s first-ever Fundraiser Cookout!

All proceeds will benefit our annual “Shop With A Cop” event!

Our officers will be working the grill and serving up food to raise money for this incredible program.

We'd be so grateful for your support and we hope to see you there!

For those who may not be familiar, "Shop With A Cop" is wonderful event we participate in during the holidays. Officers are paired with local children whose families are experiencing some financial hardships, and together they go on a shopping spree to pick out Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Afterwards, the officers and kids return to the station to enjoy a delicious lunch and wrap the presents! It’s a great way for our officers to connect with the community and spread some much-needed joy!
