If what you’re doing isn’t working, don’t do more of it, do it differently. - Heather Wagenhals
If you’re already making a concerted effort to achieve something and it’s not working, don’t do it harder. Trust me, I know a thing or two about things not working out. I’ve invested in businesses and people with both my time and my money and it didn’t matter how hard I worked, or outworked everybody else on the project. What I was doing in that moment wasn’t going to be the difference-maker. So I had to learn how to stop what I was doing, observe what had transpired, evaluate that information, and chart a new course in order to change direction.
Sometimes we must apply different tactics to achieve similar results as others. That doesn’t mean that their way doesn’t work and it doesn’t mean you haven’t done your best. All it means is that tactic isn’t going to work for your overall strategy at this moment, and to keep on doing it or doing it two or three times harder isn’t going to change the fact that what you’re doing isn’t working. It becomes and exercise in futility.
If you want to have and be something different, you must do something different. It’s that simple.
What one thing can you change today about what you’re presently doing to become exponentially more effective?

On Financial Freedom:
We don’t outwardly seek to fail at money management; without even realizing it, we just trade our big dreams of financial freedom for little ones like coffee, beer, and ci******es. — Heather Wagenhals
When we crystallize our goals and we keep them on our mind all day long, it makes it easier to focus on what we do want and defer choices that don’t take us where we want to go.

Success is built on small, consistent actions—each one turning the flywheel of progress until momentum carries you forward. — Heather Wagenhals
In life and business, success rarely comes from a single grand gesture but from the power of consistent, deliberate actions. Much like the flywheel effect, where each push builds momentum, every effort you put in—no matter how small—contributes to something bigger over time. It’s not about how fast you can turn the wheel, but how consistently you push. With enough persistence, these small actions compound, making progress inevitable. The key is showing up every day, no matter how insignificant the task may seem, because it all adds up to significant results.
The beauty of the flywheel effect is that once you’ve built enough momentum, it becomes easier to sustain. What initially feels like a struggle transforms into effortless movement. The same applies to achieving success. At first, the actions may feel slow or unrewarding, but over time, those repeated efforts compound, and suddenly you’re moving faster than you ever imagined. Consistent action is the true driver of long-lasting success, allowing you to keep moving forward even when the results aren’t immediately visible.

The adage “To finish first, first you must finish” highlights the importance of endurance, resilience, and strategy. In any pursuit, focusing solely on being the best without building a solid foundation can lead to burnout or failure. Just as in racing, where a driver must navigate the track successfully before thinking of winning, success in life requires careful planning and consistent effort. It’s not just about speed—it’s about staying the course and finishing strong.
This principle teaches us to value perseverance and incremental progress. Those who succeed aren’t always the fastest but those who adapt to challenges and keep moving forward. By prioritizing completion and mastery, we set ourselves up for long-term success, where finishing becomes the first victory and opens the door to greater achievements.
