Have you ever wondered how to pronounce a writer's name that derives from a source not similar to your own culture?

Color me when I discovered Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls" was available at my library. I attempted to have a conversation about the author and the play with the reference librarian. Embarrassed, I finally (first attempt) asked the librarian (who is White) how to pronounce the name. With a kind expression that exhibited no annoyance nor pity, she coached me on the pronunciation.

One of the Google search nuggets also provides the pronunciation, along with a description of the author:
