🩵 Did you know that 1 in 13 kids has a food allergy? That’s why it’s important to know how to keep friends and classmates safe. And that’s why Moody taught her 3rd grade students all about food allergies. The kids learned about symptoms, what to do in case of a reaction, how to use an EpiPen, and they even learned about me.

🩵 People can react to an allergen (food protein) by eating a food they’re allergic to. They can also react by touching something that has traces of that food on it, like peanut butter residue. The only way to remove food proteins is to wash hands or surfaces with soap and water or with wipes. Hand sanitizers do not remove food proteins!

Reminders for EpiPen use:
🩵Inject into the outer thigh.. it goes through pants.
🩵You don’t have to swing and stab.. you can press firmly.
🩵If symptoms don’t improve within 5 minutes, give another dose.. that’s why you always carry two.
🩵Go to the ER after using.
🩵Always show others how to use in case of emergency.
