This fall, I have been celebrating gratitude by featuring past leadership coaching clients who have been featured in my book, "Career ReCharge: Five Strategies to Boost Resilience and Beat Burnout."
✨ I am grateful not only for the 5th anniversary of my first book, but I am thankful for past and present coaching clients who have supported my business for over 25 years. I still remember the day when I called my Dad to say I was starting my own business, and I was naming it Benatti! He would be proud to know that I also have a Benatti Resiliency Model in his honor that continues to prevent and reverse burnout.
✨ This week, I'm excited to share a testimonial from my leadership coaching client, Derek Blair. He now works in Munich, Germany as an Associate Director of Clinical Biomarkers at MorphoSys. It has truly been an honor to see Derek's career go global!
When asked which resilience habit has contributed to his career success, Derek shared:
"I have been fortunate to have worked with Beth for many years, initially in group workshops and as my career advanced she became my leadership coach. Those initial workshops gave me some of the basics, such as understanding my personality type and how that impacts my work style and how I interact with those around me. This is something that I am still cognizant of today, for example it really helps to understand how teams' function when you join a new team or a new company.
However, one of the most important resiliency habits is to focus on your own well-being. It's all too easy to let your 'me' time slip off your plate, but that is not a sustainable approach. I tried a number of different things, and not everything worked for me, for example I haven't yet learned the skill to meditate in the most recognized way. But I take care of myself by running, walking, or hiking in nature. These help me feel grounded and reinvigorate me, and while running or hiking, I take time to fully immerse myself in the surroundings and pay attention to all the little details, allowing myself to be awed, sometimes by the ordinary."
