HOT SUNDAY WITH VERY HIGH TIDES CAUSING A LITTLE COASTAL FLOOD/SPLASHOVER: 90F, STORMY OVERNIGHT; COOLER WEEK AHEAD WITH POSSIBLE SEVERE STORMS ON THURSDAY?

First, we have a warm/hot Sunday head with temperatures cracking 90F. Dew points start in the 50s (dry) but creep into the 60s (more humid) by later tonight. Also, due to very high tides, coastal roads that are prone to splashover and flooding, may see some action around 11AM and 11PM high tides.

As you see below, our dry streak is coming to an end pre-dawn Monday morning...where some showers and embedded thunderstorms will cross the region. Not impossible for a severe storm along the Cape and Islands.

We cool down to the upper 70s and low 80s for the rest of the week. Humidity levels are going to remain on the low/dry side this week.

Thursday is a little concerning, from afar, as a fairly strong storm system crosses Northern New England/southern Canada... which puts us in position for active weather when a warm front crosses the region in the morning and then eventually a cold front later in the day. I'll keep you all updated on the evolution of this upcoming event. Just keep in mind that Thursday could be an active weather day with impacts to outdoor plans. It doesn't look like we see much activity on the North Shore until later tonight, when a dying line of showers and storms comes through...as modeled here around 10pm.

We may still see some gusty winds to 40mph and a flash of lightning with some moderate rain...so plan accordingly.

Tomorrow another batch of showers rotates down the coast from Maine to the North Shore in the afternoon so be prepared for that.

Lots of reports of downed tree branches across the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. Rough morning out there!
