Many of our team members love to hit the slopes at the many ski areas within a few hours of our Billings office! Are you a skier or snowboarder, Or do you prefer to stay inside where it's warm and dry? If you like the look of the snow and winter weather but prefer the latter option, enjoy this hand rendering by Jim Collins of a winter scene pulled from the archives instead!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It must be hard to focus when there's beautiful colors like these outside your window... Right now those trees are covered in snow, but come spring this small strip of landscape will begin to transform into a colorful palette once again that will change over the course of each season. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There's something so satisfying and beautiful in seeing a design come to life. This is a sign we designed for TransWestern Plaza here in Billings, Montana. We love seeing the materials and colors become a three-dimensional reality after designing them on paper! There is so much that goes into the proper construction of a design, from material selection, to dimensions, to how each piece connects to the next. More to come from this project in the near future as the installation continues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When designing a landscape, whether it's at a residential scale or over multiple acres within a community, we look at the design from multiple angles. What does the design look like from above, across the entire site? How does it look when you're a person experiencing the space? How does the project fit into the context of all of its surroundings? We design to bring the built environment, nature, and people together, and looking at the site from all of these different angles allows us to do that to the best of our abilities.

Landscape architecture is more than "shrubbing up" a building or adding some grass to mow. We create spaces in the outdoors that invite you to gather, relax, and enjoy nature! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On a residential project, adding elements like this outdoor dining area increase the square footage for entertaining during the warmer months of the year. With the onset of winter here in Montana, we say goodbye to these spaces for a few months, but we'll be back to enjoying them very soon!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The landscape doesn't have to be just a location - it can also be an experience. The placement of structures and plants, the circulation paths through a site, points of interest and landmarks all work together to influence how you get from point A to point B and what your experience is like.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
