Let’s gather on Hire Plaza on Monday, Aug. 21, at 12:30 pm to watch the moon pass between the earth and the sun (safely, of course!).
Bring your own solar eclipse glasses approved by the International Standards Organization. Birmingham will experience the eclipse between 12 pm and 3 pm, with maximum coverage at 1:30 pm. We will see 93 percent coverage, which means it will NEVER be safe to look directly at the sun without safety glasses.
Starting at 11:30 am, the Full Moon BBQ food truck will be in front of the Henry Peters Building.
Starting at 12:30 pm, Firecracker Popsicles will be given to the first 200 attendees!
We will be following the safe viewing practices by the American Optometric Association: http://bit.ly/2vxaXRL
