Birmingham, this one's worth celebrating. 👏🏾

The 2025 Summer Boost evaluation is officially out, and our own Legacy Prep was featured in The 74's national coverage of the results. Across the country, students who attended Summer Boost gained about 3.5 extra weeks in math and 2.5 extra weeks in reading, and students who often face the biggest gaps gained even more.

Under Dr. Reneta Johnson, Legacy Prep built a summer their kids actually wanted to show up for, a "Lights, Camera, Action" program that wrapped real math and reading practice inside drama, music, and dance. They ran door-to-door bus service so transportation wasn't a barrier, and they welcomed families from as far as Huntsville. That's what it looks like when a school refuses to let summer slow kids down.

Three years in, Legacy Prep's elementary school moved from a D to a B on the state report card. This is what's possible when families have strong options close to home.
