What is Passover and why do we celebrate it? Pesach is the Hebrew word for Passover and it commemorates the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt. They had been held in slavery for 400 years. We are told in Exodus 12, that we were to keep the feasts of the LORD forever and Passover is first of the seven feasts. We are instructed to keep them throughout all our generations, as a statute forever.
Pesach/Passover is the first of God's appointed festivals. The matzah is the unleavened bread and leavening is a symbol of sin. In the Scriptures, Yeshua went to the temple before the Passover Feast and cleansed it from the "leaven"- the corruption.. of the money changers ...who were doing business inside the temple. (read John 2:13-16)
It was through the blood of the lamb, which was placed on the doorposts of the homes in Egypt, that the Israelites were saved from the last of the ten plagues—the death of the firstborn.
A central lesson of the Passover lamb is that its shed blood caused the death angel to “pass over” those who applied it to their homes in Egypt.
Yeshua is our Passover Lamb and he cleanses us from sin.
We commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua our Messiah, who is our Passover Lamb! Yeshua's blood delivers us from slavery to sin.
The Passover is the illustration of God's redemptive plan for all of mankind. Yeshua gave Himself up, as a Lamb to the slaughter, so we could have freedom from sin and death.
(read Isaiah 53:6-7)
May God's blessings be on you as you celebrate this Passover and I hope and pray you will have a glorious night celebrating God's gift, our Passover Lamb, Yeshua!

Passover is one of the most important holidays on the Jewish calendar. Not only does it serve as a reminder of God’s faithfulness, but it points to the Lamb of God, Yeshua the Messiah, who served as the once-for-all sacrifice for our sins. This is why God commanded the Jewish people to observe the Feast of Passover from generation to generation.
