Trauma with Coconut tonight!!

Foster mom, Jani, called me at supper time to report that Coconut looked like she had hurt her left rear leg. She was not putting any weight on it, and very wobbly when walking. She checked for injuries, but could not find any. Coconut was fine earlier this afternoon. I told her to call the vet and I would be over.

Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic came and Dr. Black examined her. He said that she had not injured her leg, and what was going on appeared to be neurological. She did not seem to know where her back end was, or how to control it. Dr. Black suggested EPM, but agreed that EPM's symptoms are usually gradual and do not appear suddenly. He gave her an anti-inflamatory shot. We are to call with a report Monday morning.

Rosco's Rescue is blessed to have such vigilant foster moms. Coconut is our oldest horse, at 38, a retired barrel racer and a very special gal.
