A home inspector will test the outlets and switches throughout the house to ensure they are functioning and are wired properly. The outlet pictured is wired incorrectly and should be corrected to avoid being shocked. This outlet would still provide power. The only way to know if it's not correct is to have it tested. This would be included in your inspection report.

What does a home inspector look for?
The inspector evaluates and reports the condition of the structure, roof, foundation, drainage, plumbing, heating system, central air-conditioning system, visible insulation, walls, windows, and doors. Only those items that are visible and accessible by normal means are included in the report.
