πŸš—πŸ’š Puffin Room Fun: Vehicles & Oobleck Exploration! πŸ’šπŸš—

Our Puffin friends had an exciting sensory adventure! They combined two favorite activitiesβ€”vehicles and Oobleck! The children loved driving cars, trucks, and construction vehicles through the mysterious mixture, watching it squish, ooze, and change right before their eyes. There were lots of giggles, curious observations, and opportunities to practice fine motor skills while exploring this unique sensory material.

What is Oobleck?
Oobleck is a fascinating substance that acts as both a liquid and a solid! When you squeeze it or hit it quickly, it feels solid, but when you let it rest in your hands, it flows like a liquid. This makes it a wonderful hands-on science experience for young children.

Try It at Home!
Oobleck Recipe:
β€’ 2 cups cornstarch
β€’ 1 cup water
β€’ Food coloring (optional)

Directions:

Pour the cornstarch into a bowl.
Slowly add water while stirring.
Add a few drops of food coloring if desired.
Mix until smooth and enjoy exploring!

If the mixture is too runny, add a little more cornstarch. If it's too thick, add a small amount of water.

πŸžπŸ’› Our Otter Classroom had a wonderful time at our May Family Event making Friendship Bread together! Families mixed, measured, and shared special moments while creating a delicious treat to enjoy at home. Activities like these help strengthen the connections between home and school while creating lasting memories for our children.

Friendship Bread is a special sweet bread that is traditionally shared with friends and family. The process begins with a starterβ€”a mixture of flour, sugar, and milk that is allowed to grow over several days. The starter is stirred daily, and as it expands, portions can be shared with others so they can make their own loaves. It's a fun tradition that teaches patience, sharing, and community!

Simple Friendship Bread Recipe
πŸ₯› 1 cup Friendship Bread starter
πŸ₯š 3 eggs
πŸ›’οΈ 1 cup oil
🍬 1 cup sugar
🍦 1 tsp vanilla
🌾 2 cups flour
πŸ₯„ 1 tsp baking soda
πŸ₯„ 1 tsp baking powder
πŸ₯„ Β½ tsp salt
πŸ‚ 2 tsp cinnamon

Mix all ingredients together. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 325Β°F for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Thank you to all of our Otter families who joined us for this special event. We loved spending time together and celebrating the joy of learning, sharing, and baking as a community! 🦦❀️
