Let’s explore the flag’s hisroey.

Congress passed a resolution on June 14, 1777 establishing the flag as having 13 stripes, representing

the trhirteen colonies.13, stars. Stripes were added as each state was admitted to the union.

The colors of the Flag are represented by:
White for purity and Innocence.
Red for hardiness and valor
Blue stands for vigilance, perservenance and justice.

On April 4, 1818 President James Monroe signed an act establishing the thirteen stripes representing

the thirteen colonies. Prior to this a new stripe and a new star was added as each state entered the Union.

1989 Gregory Lee Johnson burned an American flag at a political rally. He was charged under Texas

law, found guilty, fined $1000.00 sentenced to one year in prison. The Supreme Court reduced his

sentence. Congress passed a Federal Flag Protection Law act of 1989. Later Struck down by the same

Supreme Court in 1990, Freedom of Speech was reason. Since then, many ammendments have been

proposed to ban Decrecration of the flag, none have passed.
